U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Ted Osius with Kathleen Bostdorff and Rajiv Jayadevan, two Fulbright English Teaching Assistants (ETAs) currently working in Palembang, posed after dinner at the South Sumatra Governor's residence, Griya Agung Palace, in Palembang. There are currently 32 ETAs at high schools across Indonesia. The dinner was hosted by the Governor of South Sumatra, Alex Noerdin.

U.S. Embassy Using Awarding U.S. Trips with Facebook Fan Page Competition
The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is running a “Golden Ticket” competition for its Facebook fans, asking them to compete via an essay competition. The more than 60,000 fans can submit their essays for a chance win one of three all expense-paid educational tours of the U.S., where they’ll get to visit several of the places in America that had a significant impact on the life of U.S. President Obama.

Freeport Provides $1 Million for AMINEF Scholarships
Jakarta – PT Freeport Indonesia signed a five-year, $1 million agreement with the American-Indonesian Exchange Foundation (AMINEF) to provide higher education scholarship opportunities for students from Papua. The MoU was signed by AMINEF Executive Director Michael McCoy and Sinta Sirait, Freeport’s Director-Executive Vice President. U.S. Ambassador Cameron Hume and Deputy Minister of Education Fasli Jalal observed the MoU signing at the Ministry of National Education today. (complete
