  1. The package or wrapping of the domestically produced or imported food containing material of pig origin, shall bear a notice in the form of a picture of a pig and a writing which reads: "contains pork" and shall be written in red color capital letters not smaller than Universe medium corps 12 point within a red box.


E. FOOD ADDITIVES MUST BE IDENTIFIED

  1. Functional classes of Food Additives permitted for use in food are as follows:
  • Antioxidant
  • Anticaking agent
  • Acidity regulator
  • Artificial sweetener
  • Flour treatment agent
  • Emulsifier, stabilizer, thickener
  • Preservative
  • Firming agent
  • Color
  • Flavor, flavor enhancer
  • Sequestrant

  1. Each imported food additive must be accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis from the producer in the country of origin.


II. SHIPPING YOUR PRODUCT

A. Expiration Date Restriction Must be Met
Foods which must have an expiration date on their label must arrive Indonesia according to the following time schedule:

  • AT the latest, 1 1/2 years before the expiration date for food which has a shelf life of 2 years or more.
  • At the latest, 8 months before the expiration date for food which has a shelf-life of 1 year.
  • At the latest, 4 months before the expiration date for food which has a shelf life of 6 months.
  • At the latest, 2 months before the expiration date for food which has a shelf-life of 3 months.

B. Documents Must be Forwarded to the Department of Health
A photocopy of the L/C, invoice, packing list, and the B/L must be sent to the Department of Health.

C. Halal Certificate Necessary for Certain Products
A halal certificate is required for food containing gelatine, tallow, shortening and/or animal fat.

D. Certificate of Health Must Accompany Product
Each food product to be imported must be accompanied by a Certificate of Health which is issued by the authorized body in the country of origin or the institution authorized by the exporting country.
