The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta is seeking an individual for the position of Furniture Repairman (Pos. No: C52205) in the General Services Office (GSO).

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

The incumbent works as furniture refinisher/repairer for the facilities maintenance unit at the American Embassy.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

1. Vocational training in general joiner and carpentry works. Expertise in furniture repairs and maintenance is required.

2. At least three years experience as furniture repairer/refinished is required.

3. Level I (rudimentary knowledge) in English and level III (good working knowledge) in Bahasa are required.

4. Must have a working knowledge of wood working tools and their use and maintenance of them. Must have good knowledge of different types of wood used in manufacture for furniture and different types of finish and how to apply them correctly.

5. Must be able to understand the structural design, finish the decorative effect that enhances the finish product in furniture repair. Must be familiar with hazardous materials identification disposal methods IIAW Material Safety Data Sheets.
