NBA Indiana Pacers’ Danny Granger Shares Expertise on
Basketball Fundamentals to Indonesian Orphans

NBA Indiana Pacers Guard Forward Danny Granger will team up with coaches from Satria Muda Britama at a joint U.S. Embassy-NBA Cares basketball clinic in the Embassy’s courtyard basketball court. Danny Granger, with the help of Satria Muda Britama Head Coach Fictor Roring and assistants, will coach 30 orphans from Vincentius and Muhammadiyah orphanages on basketball fundamentals as well as discuss with them the importance of team work, sportsmanship, a positive attitude, and the love of the game.

“This is an incredible opportunity to bring our two cultures together with a unique combination of celebrity, volunteerism, and leadership,” said Ambassador Cameron R. Hume. “We are pleased to welcome the NBA and Danny Granger to Indonesia.”

Danny Granger led the Pacers in scoring for the first time this season, averaging 19 points per game, while starting all 80 games he appeared in. He was selected to the NBA Rookie All-Star Game in 2006 and 2007. Danny is viewed as a future All-Star who has the ability to dominate on both ends of the court.

NBA Cares is the league's social responsibility initiative that builds on the NBA's long tradition of addressing important social issues in the United States and around the world. Through this umbrella program, the NBA, its teams and players have donated more than $81 million to charity, completed approximately 550,000 hours of community service and created more than 300 places where kids and families can live, learn and play. NBA Cares works with internationally recognized youth-serving programs that support education, youth and family development, and health-related causes. The NBA has visited China, Russia, France, Italy, Africa, Spain, and Turkey. This is the first time the NBA has come to Indonesia.
