U.S. Ambassador Cameron R. Hume Participates in Middle East Peace Process Event

U.S. Ambassador Cameron R. Hume was a featured speaker at the “Special Dialogue on Annapolis and After: The Role of Indonesia in the Middle East Peace Process,” held on December 17, 2007 at the Hotel Aryaduta. The event was organized by Waspada, the Jakarta Post, the Habibie center and Republic.  Ambassador Hume explained U.S. policy and highlighted broad international support for the establishment of a Palestinian state and the realization of Israeli-Palestinian peace. He stressed that President Bush has made clear U.S. support for “a common goal” of two democratic states - Israel and Palestine - living side-by-side in peace and security.  Other speakers included Palestinian Ambassador Fariz Mehdawi, Dewi Fortuna Anwar of the Habibie Center and former Indonesian Foreign Minister Al-Alatas. Some 100 diplomats, journalists and academics attended the event
